Sochi, Russia, 23rd April 2009; Gazprom, VNIIGAZ and NGVRUS succeeded to drive a NGV Caravan of 16 NGVs (20.-23. April) from Moscow via Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar and Novorossiysk to Sochi - the capital city of the 2014 Winter Olympics (total length 1800 km!).

The strategic objective of this Caravan was to promote the unique environmental, economic and safety features clean fuel alternatives like natural gas and biomethane have to offer. Vehicle manufacturers could also use this significant Russian project to demonstrate the excellent performance of their NGVs. Last September Gazprom together with VNIIGAZ and NGVRUS already organized a first CNG Caravan from Saint-Petersburg via Novgorod and Tver' to Moscow. Fourteen trucks, buses and passenger cars running on natural gas were attracting attention of local politicians, fleet managers, general public and the press. |
