NGVA Europe opens Brussels office

NGVA Europe, the only European Association promoting natural gas and biomethane in the transport sector, opened a new office in Brussels from September 1st as a consequence of its strong and continuously increasing presence in the Belgian capital.

The main objective of this strategic movement is to better coordinate the interests of the Association's members, the European NGV related industry, with the European political institutions. Matthias Maedge, joining NGVA Europe from the very start in 2008, is now becoming the new responsible of EU Affairs in Brussels. In his function as EU Affairs and Marketing Manager of NGVA Europe, he is the permanent representative in the new Brussels Office of NGVA Europe, which is located in Rue d'Arlon 63-65. Before making the move to Brussels, Mathias Maedge already spent 2,5 years as Marketing & Communications Manager of NGVA Europe in the Association's secretariat in Madrid, Spain. Matthias Maedge has a Master degree in Politics, Media & Communication Studies and English / German translation and brings a political background by profession. Prior to his involvement in the gas vehicle business, he was a research associate to a shadow secretary and Member of the German Parliament in Berlin.

At the same time, NGVA Europe has incorporated also from September 1st a new staff member, Jaime del Álamo, who became Technical Manager of the Association. Jaime del Álamo has a technical background and degree in Mechanical Engineering. Before working in NGVA Europe, he has been a technical assistant to the Spanish Ministry of Environment, Air Quality Dept. Amongst others, he was also a representative in various international technical working groups at EU and UN level (EC, ISO, UNECE) and was responsible for elaborating reports on behalf of the Spanish Ministry.
The intention of this new incorporation is to enhance and better coordinate all the technical aspects being related to the Association. His main responsibilities will include the managing, coordination and assistance of the different EU/UN Working Parties NGVA Europe is involved in and also the various proper Working Groups of the Association. Hence Jaime del Álamo will be monitoring the development and modifying of European Standards and Regulations affecting the NGV market and coordinates the preparation of all technical papers of the Association.

We are very proud to increase our team to now four staff members, in order to give the best possible technical, political and general support to our members with any request they may have for assistance with a particular issue. (see the team on http://www.ngvaeurope.eu/the-staff)
