NGV Roma 2010 (June 8-10) was the first direct participation of NGVA Europe in the NGV world fair series, but the second international show after GNV Madrid 2009. For NGVA Europe the NGV Rome event was a great success as we could show to our members (from more than 30 countries already!) that they are properly represented by NGVA Europe, the only association promoting natural gas and biomethane as transport fuel in the pan-European geographical area. We also made many very good new contacts with companies and national stakeholders showing great interest in joining our European NGV family. "NGV Roma 2010" was a clear demonstration that NGVs in Europe are on the move and NGVA Europe will continue to meet the challenge on behalf of the European NGV related industry!

IANGV becomes NGV Global – Gabriele Gozzi elected as new president
Meetings of the International Association for Natural Gas Vehicles (IANGV) on June 7th in Rome have resulted in important changes to the organisation. The changes include the introduction of the new ‘brand name’ NGV Global for the organisation and significant amendments to the rules allowing for more flexibility with membership options. Members also voted on the appointment of a new Chairman for the organisation, who turned out to be Gabriele Gozzi, representing NGV System Italia, a member of NGVA Europe and also IANGV. G. Gozzi is Managing Director of NGVA Europe’s Italian based member Idro Meccanica and also NGVA Europe working group coordinator for Successful Market Initiatives.
The brand name NGV Global is to be phased in over the coming weeks, accompanied by a new logo, with the existing news service of the same name to be renamed NGV Global News. Commenting on the changes, Executive Director, Brett Jarman said several factors contributed to the decision to introduce the brand name. “Neither the IANGV acronym nor the full name for the association are easy to communicate at times so we opted for something shorter and more succinct. As we now have several regional associations as well, meaning we are no longer the only international association, it didn’t make sense to continue with the name as it was.” Jarman says NGV Global was agreed as it encompasses the mandate of the association more fully.
Incoming Chairman Gozzi said he was excited to be leading the association as the changes are being introduced. “The industry is expecting rapid growth in the next ten years so the association needs to present itself as a dynamic organisation, ready to respond to the industry’s needs. With the new structure in place we now have that.”
Outgoing President, Rich Kolodziej, who remains on the Board of Directors, said the proudest achievement of his two year term was seeing the rule changes pass through a successful vote. “This has been an eighteen month process but the final result will lead to more stability and increased growth for the association.”
NGVA Europe General Manager, Manuel Lage, who was confirmed as Board of Directors member of NGV Global, welcomes the changes ahead for the world association. “I am convinced that this new general philosophy we agreed on is a lot more consistent with the needs and expectations especially of the regional member associations, like NGVA Europe.”
NGVA Europe is NGV Global’s official representative in Europe, also in the relevant technical working fora on EU and UN level (for knowing more, please refer to our overview on EU/UN Working Parties).
“I congratulate Gabriele Gozzi on behalf of NGVA Europe for having been elected the first Chairman of NGV Global and we are looking forward to cooperating even more closely with NGV Global in the future”, M. Lage said.
