Iveco designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of light, medium & heavy commercial vehicles for on road and off road use. It also produces passenger transport vehicles and special vehicles for defence, civil protection and other special missions. The vehicles utilize the most advanced diesel and alternative fuel technologies such as compressed natural gas. Since 1995 Iveco has been able to offer a range of natural gas vehicles and is today the leader in Europe in research and production of NG engines and vehicles. All Iveco NG vehicles use a dedicated natural gas spark ignition engine operating under a stoichiometric combustion strategy. This allows the engines to operate with consistently high performance, reducing pollution emissions well within the limits defined by the Environmentally Enhanced Vehicle specification. Iveco's portfolio includes the following vehicles: Iveco Daily: van, chassis cab and minibus versions of models at 3.5t, 4.0t, 5.0t and the chassis cab version only at 6.5t using the new 3.0 litre gas engine developing 140hp. Iveco Stralis: two and three axle models are available at 18 and 26t respectively and feature the new Cursor 8 litre engine rated at 270hp. Both manual ZF and Allison automatic transmissions are available, each with integrated retarder. Iveco Eurocargo: 12t and 16t models have been produced for a specific customer with the new Tector 6 cylinder engine developing 200hp. These models will be fully available from 2009 with a ZF 6 and 9 speed transmission or the Allison automatic transmission. Irisbus Iveco is the undisputed leader in the natural gas public service vehicle sector. Its natural gas buses powered by the Cursor 8 engines have been adopted by over 70 European towns and cities. The models include the Citelis and the Europolis. |
