Eni operates in over 70 countries around the world. Listed on both the Italian and the New York Stock Exchange, in 2008 Eni generated consolidated revenues of 108 billion euros, with a net profit of 8.8 billion euros.
Exploration & Production
Eni explores and produces hydrocarbons in Italy, North and West Africa, the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, Latin America, Australia and in high-potential areas such as the Caspian Sea, the Middle and Far East, India, Russia and Alaska. In 2008 hydrocarbon production was 1.797 million boe/day. Eni expects to produce more than 2 million boe/day in 2012, with an average growth rate of 3.5% a year. Proved hydrocarbon reserves at December 31, 2008 amounted to 6.6 billion boe (Russian assets at 30%). The life index of the reserves is 10 years. The increase in production will be achieved through organic development in strategic areas such as Africa, OECD-member countries and Central Asia/Russia, which are among the areas with the greatest growth potential in the world. In these areas eni enjoys unique positioning in some of the world's largest projects.
Gas & Power
Eni operates in the supply, transport, regasification, distribution and marketing of natural gas and in electricity generation and sales in Italy and abroad, by means of a unique integrated business model. In 2008 it sold over 104 billion cubic meters of natural gas (mostly in Italy, Europe and the US and including upstream sales and internal consumption) and approximately 30 terawatthours of electricity.
Refining & Marketing
Eni is the main operator in refining in Italy. In refined product distribution eni, with its agip brand, is the market leader in Italy and holds major positions in a number of countries in the rest of Europe. In 2008 eni sold 50.68 million tons of petroleum products while total refinery intake, including third parties', amounted to 35.84 million tons, with full balanced capacity utilization. Eni operates in crude and petroleum products trading both with forward contracts and with spot market purchases. In 2008 eni traded around 57.91 million tons of crude, about 29.71 million of which were produced by the exploration & production division. |
