Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar has been founded as a non-profit institution. Its goals are to provide expert and scientific support to: the strategic development of the Croatian energy system and its sub-systems, the processes of legislative reform and development, the advancement of economic relations, and to the development of relevant institutions. |
| Long Profile |
The Institute’s main tasks include: expert and scientific research in the field of energy for state, regional and local administration and energy companies; expertise and analyses for the Croatian Energy Regulatory Council; management of National Energy Programmes and pilot projects; organisation of seminars, workshops and courses; publication of editions, periodicals and other forms of communication with experts, scientists and the general public, especially via Internet. The Institute carries out its mission in cooperation with numerous scientists and institutions from Croatia and abroad. The Institute’s vision is an answer to the requirements of the Croatian energy sector which is undergoing reform, restructuring, privatisation and opening of the energy market. In this context, it is of considerable importance to accelerate all activities related to EU accession, strengthen the Institute’s regional role in the advancement of Croatia’s economic and overall interests, and follow the ever increasing role of Croatia in international political and economic relations. In order to achieve the aforementioned goals, it is necessary to increase the level of knowledge and capacity within the energy sector and state administration, but also within the overall economy in order to develop capacity to perform well in a market economy and an open energy market As the main leader in its field, the Institute responsibly and persistently performs all tasks outlined in its mission statement while supporting energy sector transition processes. The fulfilment of these tasks is possible since the Institute has, through the years, gained the confidence of all subjects in the energy sector as a professionally responsible and scientifically competent institution. Regional and international cooperation represent important components of the Institute’s programme. In this context, the Institute represents an important centre for cooperation in the realisation of common programs, education and reform in the region. The Institute has confirmed a high level of professionalism in preparing, managing and executing international scientific programmes. |
