NGVA Europe member GNVERT, 100% subsidiary of GDF SUEZ, will from 1st April 2011 offer credit card payment at all its public CNG filling stations and thereby wants to make CNG refuelling more easy for national customers and also international NGV drivers visting France.
GNVERT facilitates access to its CNG stations
As of early April 2011, the CNG vehicle users can now use their credit cards in GNVERT stations. Until now users had to previously sign a contract with GNVERT, and received a special fuel card, "badge GNVERT, in return giving them access to its network of stations. "We wanted to give a better incentive to buy a NGV and facilitate CNG ruelling for the NGV customer at our stations," says Karine Vernier, president of GNVERT. GNVERT so far operates 27 CNG stations in France, open to commercial vehicles and light duty vehicles spread over the whole territory. GNVERT plans to open 2 to 4 stations more stations by the end of the year. France still lags behind countries like Germany or Italy who have several hundred CNG stations already.
CNG, a ecological and economic fuel
CNG is an alternative fuel, mainly composed of methane (CH4), which can reduce 24% CO2 and 80% NOx (oxides of nitrogen), compared with a gasoline vehicle in the same category. It also emits no sooty partcicles.
In addition to its environmental qualities, CNG is also a competitive fuel that saves fuel costs of up to 20% savings compared to conventional fuels. There are also incentives and tax benefits for users of CNG vehicles (ADEME aid, exemption of TVS, etc ...).
The use of CNG is safe, reduces noise by 50% and limits vibration to a minimum, which cause discomfort for the drivers.
