GNV Madrid - NGVA Europe meetings, conferences & show (June 15-19)

Madrid/Spain, 15th-19th June 2009; NGVA Europe celebrated a successful week in the Spanish capital of Madrid and held its annual General Meeting of the members, followed by GNV Madrid 2009 (June 17-19).

the_plenum60 of the NGVA Europe members (current total 80!) attended the annual General Meeting of the Association (see picture) and elected with a unanimous vote Trevor Fletcher (Hardstaff Group) and Gerhard Holtmeier (erdgas mobil e.V.) as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of NGVA Europe (go to press release). Also the NGVA Europe Working Groups were meeting and presented their results in the afternoon technical session (see picture of the Dual Fuel Working Group).working_group_on_dual_fuel

Only one year after NGVA Europe was established in May 2008, we are proudly looking back on an exciting first year. GNV Madrid marked the highlight of the season and was the first international NGVA Europe event. In the exposition 49 exhibiting companies were able to attract 2000 professional visitors from all over Europe and worldwide during June 17th-19th.exhibition In the NGVA Europe conferences 32 international high-profile NGV experts from 3 continents gave informative speeches (all presentations can be found here!) and stated their overall positive view on the constantly growing NGV market development in Europe. In retrospect, we as NGVA Europe share the common view of all experts and are absolutely convinced that there is no intermediate fuel alternative to petrol and diesel than NG/biomethane.ngva_europe_stand

In the moment of its foundation NGVA Europe started with 20 members, by now we have reached 80 members already (go to list of NGVA Europe members). And at least another 10 companies we talked to in our stand at GNV 2009 in Madrid (see picture) expressed their wish to join. This significant member development of the European NGV family can not only be taken as a proof for the need to have a European umbrella organisation that promotes the use of NG/biomethane as a vehicle fuel, but also shows that our members appreciate our dedication and the work we deliver.

NGVA Europe is closely observing and trying to influence the work of all important EU Political Institutions, in order to guarantee that NGVs in Europe become a stronger voice. But NGVA Europe is also permanently represented at all important EU/UN Working Parties, in order to guarantee that every technical regulation is always going in line what NGVA Europe's members expect them to be. Any of our members can play an active role when developing official NGVA Europe positions or documents and profit from each other's knowledge and know-how.

5,400 km with a CNG Opel Zafira Turbo from Germany to GNV Madrid and return!

dh205663NGVA Europe member, Henrik Domanovszky, came all the way down to GNV Madrid with a CNG Opel Zafira Turbo, which was provided by the Opel public relations office, and started his journey at the Opel factory in Rüsselsheim, Germany. After having arrived back safely in Germany the CNG Zafira did 5.400 km on NG/biomethane. Alongside the route Henrik Domanh._domanovsky_and_the_carovszky refueled his NGV in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France and Spain. The goal of this road trip on methane was to test and demonstrate the capability, cost efficiency and environment friendly traveling solution by a state of the art NG/biomethane powered vehicle. "This was an amazing trip in a very comfortable and high-capacity NGV, no difference to any petrol or Diesel car". I thank NGVA Europe for its support when planning the trip and their help with organizing refuelling facilities, especially in Spain and France," Henrik Domanovszky said.

Below read the whole journey report (incl. detailed information on refuelling conditions and performance indicators of the car) by Henrik Domanovszky.
