Europe’s first conversion of the IVECO Daily CNG as a tractor-trailer

Werdau/Germany, 24th September 2009; the trailer manufacturing company T-AX-O, based in Saxony, Germany, converted a 35C14 IVECO Daily running on NG/biomethane and now makes it commercially available as a tractor-trailer. The first prototype of the tractor version of the Daily CNG was already given homologation approval by NGVA Europe member TÜV Saarland and Dekra Saxony and is ready for serial production as per individual order.

The East German trailer manufacturer T-AX-O Trailer GmbH recently converted the IVECO Daily CNG into a tractor-trailer. "The ambition for the change-over of the Daily CNG was to provide an economically efficient and clean tractor that could pull all trailer versions T-AX-O is offering in their portfolio", as sales director of T-AX-O, Gerhard Obermaier, says. "Nowadays we have to adjust our technology to certain economic and environmental conditions and our new NG/biomethane powered Daily tractor meets exactly the needs that result from these challenges", Obermaier adds.

The main technical characteristics of the CNG vehicle are:

- 136 hp from 2730 to 3500 rpm (max. power)

- 350 Nm from 1500 to 2730 rpm (max. torque)

- 6 speed gearbox

• Driving the Daily CNG tractor only requires the European driver's license class BE (passenger car with trailer > 750 kg), no proper lorry license (class C) necessary

• Because of its shorter wheelbase the tractor provides a fantastic shunting performance and has a much better turning circle compared to a 7,5 ton truck
