NGVA Europe member Ballast Nedam provides biomethane fuelling solutions for green fleets. Dutch company HHNK is active in the treatment of untreated sewage in the Netherlands. The company owns twenty sewage treatment plants. Biogas is released through a digestion process when treating untreated sewage. HHNK ensures that this biogas is of the same quality as natural gas (biomethane) and injects this in the existing natural gas pipework.
HHNK has set itself ambitious goals within the context of its Corporate Social Responsibility by demanding that a large part of its own fleet runs on this biomethane that it produces itself.
As Dutch market leader, Ballast Nedam IPM has extensive knowledge and experience in realising and maintaining natural gas filling stations. HHNK, therefore, asked this company to build a professional filling system for filling a fleet of twenty natural gas vehicles at its own site for the Wervershoof and Warmenhuizen locations.

Based on these customer requirements Ballast Nedam designed a compressor system including a storage with an integrated filling hose and quick-filling coupling for both locations. This system ensures that the vehicles could be filled quickly and completely.
HHNK purchased a few additional options such as a stainless steel pump island with collision protection and an automated tank release and registration system to increase tank comfort.
The filling stations were installed and delivered in Wervershoof and Warmenhuizen in April 2011 to the full satisfaction of the customer. HHNK now drives using CO2 neutral biomethane that it produces itself from sludge. Ballast Nedam IPM has again proven that it can also offer a total solution in the area of company filling systems for natural and biomethane with the realisation of this project.
