Irschenberg/Germany; on Wednesday, 7th of January, Rainer Zietlow, who is motoring Globetrotter, started with a Passat TSI EcoFuel for a nationwide tour to stop at all of Germany's over 800 CNG service stations.
Rainer Zietlow is about to take the impressive proof: His ambition is to visit every single of the more than 800 CNG filling stations across Germany in only 80 days. His goal to finish the tour in time will be Germany's AMI 2009 (Auto Mobile International) in Leipzig which opens its doors on March 28. The complete course of the "800 CNG EcoFuel Tour" can be followed on 800cng.de. Zietlow drives a natural gas powered Passat TSI EcoFuel motorised with a direct injection bivalent turbo engine.
Looking at 110 kW / 150 hp, the Passat TSI EcoFuel, only uses around 4.6 kilograms of CNG on 100 km and thus only will have to fill up at every 20th CNG filling station on its 20,000 kilometres long trip.
At 1500 r.p.m. (revolutions per minute) already, the bivalent engine of the Passat EcoFuel develops a torque of 220 Newton meters. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km in just 9.9 seconds and the maximum speed is 210 km / h. The Passat TSI EcoFuel will also be available with the innovative and comfortable DSG dual-clutch gearbox, which makes the car even more economic and lowers CO2 emissions down to 119 g/ km. The range is also quite impressive, since a maximum capacity of 21 kilograms CNG, which will stored in three tanks under the vehicle floor, suffice to go for 450 kilometres. An additional 31 litres of gasoline will allow the 1.4 litre Variant version of the Passat TSI EcoFuel to drive over 900 kilometres far.
Market launch for the Passat TSI EcoFuel is January 2009.
