Campain on Natural Gas as Automotive fuel in Austria:
Vienna, Nov. 8th, 2011 - The „FGW - Fachverband der Gas- und Wärmeversorgungsunternehmungen“, the Austrian Association of Gas- and District Heating Supply Companies covers the interests of Austrian Gas Companies. In 2009 the FGW started a big media promotion campaign for Natural Gas in Austria, to energize the public image of that great fuel in a much broader audience. 2011 the focus of this Austrian campaign is on the specific use of “Natural Gas as Automotive Fuel”. A great TV Spot showed the “cleanness” of NGV´s and was broadcasted highly visible on all Austrian TV channels, and also on Austrian radio.
The feedback to this 2011 campaign on natural gas is still impressive.
To support these TV- and radio promotions on a highly environmentally friendly fuel with the message of being “highly competitive” (at reasonable costs), in autumn 2011 FGW signed a contract for a CNG rallye car for the last three rallyes in Austria in 2011.
ONE – TWO – THREE: winning with CNG Rallye car

Three results of: overall victory in its first rallye, then a third and last weekend a second place overall. Competing with much stronger cars the Mitsubishi EVO CNG turned out to be highly competitive.

Natural Gas as automotive fuel = saves twice: per km & for environment
The CNG rallye car is always Nr. 1, when it comes to fuel costs for each rallye event. Using natural gas from gas grid for approximately 1€/kg CNG compared to 5-6 €/litre of racing gasoline, the CNG rallye car consumes around 20-25 kg CNG/100km when in racing, whereas a gasoline driven rallye car may use 50-69 litre of racing fuel. Over a rallye weekend the fuel savings using CNG are huge, up to a few thousand Euros.
